Abstract

The dorsal ulnar cutaneous nerve (DUCN) injury during wrist surgery often results in neuralgia, sensory loss, and sometimes neuroma at the nerve endings. This case is a rare report in that cutaneous nerve neuroma was diagnosed through ultrasonography without any surgical procedure and reinforces the usefulness of ultrasonography as a noninvasive complement to electrodiagnosis. In patients with focal entrapment neuropathy or cutaneous nerve injury diagnosed by electrodiagnostic studies, ultrasonographic examination is necessary to assess structural abnormality of the peripheral nerve in order to detect the injuries and neuromas that need further management.
